Irvine seniors 65 and older receive COVID-19 vaccine at Lakeview Senior Center

IRVINE, Calif. (March 4, 2021): Through the continued efforts of Mayor Farrah N. Khan’s COVID-19 Task Force, the City of Irvine and Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian partnered to provide a small COVID-19 vaccine clinic for Irvine senior citizens.

The small vaccine clinic took place Thursday, March 4 at Lakeview Senior Center. A total of 300 seniors aged 65 and over received the COVID-19 vaccine. With nearly 28,000 seniors aged 65 and over in the City, the City of Irvine is making it a priority to get seniors vaccinated against the coronavirus.

“My COVID-19 Task Force will continue to forge relationships and bring vaccines to the City of Irvine,” said Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “We will not stop until all Irvine residents have received their COVID-19 vaccine.”

City staff set up the vaccination site at Lakeview Senior Center, managed registration, and provided transportation to those who were unable to get to the vaccination site. Hoag provided COVID-19 vaccines, as well as medical personnel to administer the vaccines.

“Hoag is proud to partner with the City of Irvine to provide our community’s senior population with COVID-19 vaccines, especially those who have had limited access to obtaining them,” said Marcy Brown, Senior Vice President and Chief Hospital Operations Officer at Hoag. “We are passionate about and committed to supporting our community at this critical stage of the pandemic.”
